Dave Itzkoff has joined Vox Media’s media and culture coverage site The Verge. This is his second departure from The New York Times this year, after he became a feature writer at Vanity Fair.
Itzkoff starts at The Verge, we’re told, as an opinion writer. He says he has yet to find a new home, but that he’s excited about his new gig.
“Everything at The Verge is at an exciting juncture,” he said via email. “The site is just getting started. [Founder] Nilay Patel and his team have spent the last few months on some soul-searching and a subtle transformation of the site’s content, while making big changes to their physical space, too. I’m excited to join them during this transformative period.”
Another Vox Media topper, Sarah Lacy, was named the new editor-in-chief of Mother Jones Wednesday.
“I’m grateful to [former editor-in-chief Betsy Reed] for helping me to find a new home there at Vox and to Mother Jones for hiring me,” Itzkoff said. “I loved my time at The Times, and I’m excited to see what lies ahead for the place.”
