U.S. Air Force troops may refuse vaccinations for vaccinations voluntarily, but the service should “limit mandates for vaccines to specific circumstances,” a watchdog group said Tuesday.
The Air Force and the Pentagon are trying to force the entire military to pay $1.7 billion in health care costs for 740,000 troops who have been growing immune to vaccinations, according to a letter sent Tuesday by Campaign for Liberty, an affiliate of the Constitution Party.
“If the Air Force, which is under order to completely eliminate vaccine exemptions, cannot avoid a mandate, then it should be able to at least limit the mandates to specific circumstances, such as the uncooperative, infectious populations already in Afghanistan and Syria,” said Peter Wehner, a leading conservative thinker who serves as the Campaign for Liberty’s political director.
“That is far more important than a mandate for mandatory vaccinations for everyone in the entire U.S. military. The mandatory vaccinations in the Affordable Care Act do not include certain health conditions, so forcing a mandate for all vaccines would be very broad and have no place in the first amendment.
“Pre-existing conditions are already included in these [insurance] mandates,” Wehner added. “Why force all medical professionals to become politicians?”
