When Carrie Mnuchin was 8 years old, she received a football signed by Mia Hamm and husband Las Vegas sports gambler Tom Brady.
While it’s the most famous first ball she’s ever received, the daughter of Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin told CNN at the Super Bowl preview on Thursday that she’s not sure about its value.
Now that she’s an adult, the California resident says she wants the ball back — but would accept a round of golf at Trump National Golf Club for her half of the symbolic prize.
“I feel like that would be an awesome thing, because he’s a sports fanatic and all my other dad is famous for,” she said of her father, a former Goldman Sachs banker and Hollywood actor turned electric car magnate, before adding, “I wouldn’t throw it down like he’s throwing a football.”
It’s still unknown how the ball ended up in Mnuchin’s hands when she was a child, or why it went from Brady to his wife.
“I’ve always wondered if it was a pass or a touchdown,” she said, “but I had no idea — how it got to me, or if it came to me.”
